Dharan (Sunsari): The two-day Dharan Job Fair-2082 kicked off on Thursday at Public High School in Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-12, with the goal of creating local employment opportunities and connecting employers with job seekers. The fair concludes today.

Jointly organized by the Social Development Ministry of Koshi Province, Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City, and the Dharan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the event aims to curb the rising trend of youth migration abroad by offering viable alternatives within the country.

Speaking at the inaugural session, Panch Karn Rai, Social Development Minister of Koshi Province, said the job fair is a strategic initiative to link job seekers with employment opportunities in local industries, tourism, hospitality, education, health care, and other sectors.

Mayor Harkaraj Rai shared that around 500 youths are expected to secure jobs directly through the fair, while 5,000 others will benefit from career counseling, skill-based training, and employment-related services. He emphasized the importance of such events in addressing the skilled workforce gap in local industries.

The fair has featured 31 stalls representing local industries, business houses, training centers, and service sectors, providing a platform for employers to interact directly with potential candidates.

The event also saw the presence of Deputy Mayor Ayindra Bikram Begha, Dharan Chamber Chair Bijaya Shrestha, Province Assembly Member Yashoda Kayastha, and other officials and stakeholders, all voicing support for sustainable local employment solutions.
